Pixels to inches

Type pixel width and height plus PPI to get print size in inches or centimetres. The catalog shows which photo-lab and paper sizes stay sharp at 300 PPI. Reverse the job: pick inches and see the pixels you need. Drop a photo only to fill pixels — nothing is uploaded.

Print-size sharpness

PPI if you print these pixels at that size. 300+ is sharp, 150 is OK for posters, below that looks soft.

How it works

People search pixels to inches when a mockup is 1920×1080 and they need to know whether that file can become a 4×6, an 8×10, or an A4 without looking mushy. A one-field converter only divides by 300. This page is a print-size planner: it converts both ways, keeps a catalog of lab and ISO papers, and writes a spec you can paste into a brief.

  1. Type pixels or drop a photo — width × height. A drop only reads naturalWidth / naturalHeight in this tab. We do not parse EXIF DPI or rewrite a JPEG; that is a different tool.
  2. Pick PPI — 72 and 96 are screens, 150 is a large poster viewed from a few feet, 300 is the photo-lab default, 600 is fine-art. Custom accepts 36–1200.
  3. Read inches — pixels ÷ PPI. The same 4032×3024 phone shot is about 56×42 in at 72 PPI and 13.44×10.08 in at 300. Switch the unit to centimetres or millimetres without changing the math.
  4. Reverseinches → pixels. Need an 8×10 at 300 PPI? That is 2400×3000. The catalog buttons fill those inches so you do not hunt a ruler.
  5. Sharpness table — each wallet, 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, A5/A4/A3, Letter, Legal, and Tabloid row orients to your image, then reports PPI at that size. 300+ is sharp, 150–299 is OK for posters, below 150 is soft. Needed pixels assume a 300 DPI print of that paper.
  6. Copy or CSV — the spec lists pixels, inches, centimetres, and which sizes pass. Last values stay in this browser only.

This is not a DPI-tag reader and not a 300 DPI JPEG exporter. Those live on the check-DPI page. The product here is pixels to inches plus a coverage verdict you can send to a printer.

Close the tab and the numbers are gone.

FAQ

How do you convert pixels to inches?

Inches = pixels ÷ PPI. A 3000×2400 file at 300 PPI is 10×8 inches. Change PPI and the physical size changes; the pixel count does not.

How many pixels do I need for an 8×10?

At 300 PPI: 8 × 300 = 2400 and 10 × 300 = 3000, so 2400×3000. Use Inches → pixels and tap 8×10. At 150 PPI you only need 1200×1500 — fine for a poster, soft in a hand-held print.

Is this the same as checking DPI of an image?

No. Checking DPI reads EXIF / JFIF / pHYs and can stamp a print JPEG. Pixels to inches starts from dimensions you type (or a drop that only fills width and height) and answers “how big does this print, and which lab sizes stay sharp?”

Do you upload my photo?

No. Decode runs locally. Skip the drop and type numbers if you prefer.
